A special EVENT SHIRT WILL BE ANNOUNCED SOON! Anyone can buy a shirt, but those who wear it during the 5 weeks will have the memories created by chalk, iron, sweat and smiles.
The CrossFit Open. If you are newer to CrossFit, welcome to a holiday for CrossFitters. For some of us, this is a time to compete against the rest of the world (yes, literally) and see what you are made of up against the biggest names, and the people most new to the sport of CrossFit.
What is the Open?? It is ever changing, however it is usually 5 weeks of competition on a large stage. Each week, a new workout is announced, and for four days, athletes around the world attempt to get their highest lift, quickest time or most reps for these workouts. For some, this is the opportunity to advance to the CrossFit games. For most of us, it is a time to see where we match up against the rest of the CrossFit atheles. Each year CrossFit grows, and each year new challenges are given to us from the creator himself Dave Castro. The workouts he creates are to test your physical ability as well at your mental fortitude.
Open season begins in February and culminates in March. Want more details about past events, you can go to this link.
Registration is Jan. 12 and can be found here.
Each Friday night starting Feb. 24 and concluding March 24, we will be doing these workouts each evening with heats starting at 600p and ending until done!
We encourage you all to register and join in our community fun at Raleigh CrossFit!
What Coach Alex thought about her first open!
“CrossFit Open 2013 – rocked the first two weeks. Got schooled the 3rd week (muscle ups, womp womp womp) made a slight come back on week 4 and then in week five came the big memory. I had never done chest-to-bar pull ups in a work out. I tried one before it started and got one. Then in the work out, it was completely different. I got a few here and there but mostly it was me trying hard to get my chest to the bar. And then looking over and Kim is just shaking her head because I would at some points try and monkey climb up the side of the rig in mid kip (which is not legal!). Favorite was probably 13.1, I’d like to try that again sometime. I remember feeling pretty good after the 2013 Open and inspired to work harder. I encourage all levels of athletes to do the Open. There is no doubt you will make your own memories, but also make some with others you will NEVER forget.” – Alex
