This is a recurring event…. every Friday night starting at 600p Friday Night Lights will be going down at Raleigh CrossFit. Register for the CrossFit Open and join us for the event. This will be the only opportunity to complete the CrossFit events each week as they are announced. You must be registered at games.crossfit.com with the Raleigh CrossFit team in order to participate in Friday Night Lights.

WHY YOU SHOULD PARTICIPATE IN THE CROSSFIT OPEN
Those new to CrossFit may not be aware of it, but we are only weeks away from the most fun time of year in any CrossFit gym – The CrossFit Open. The Open, as it is called, is a five-week test of fitness. During those five weeks, every Thursday night CrossFit Games Director Dave Castro will announce a workout. This is done via YouTube and the official CrossFit Games Website (games.crossfit.com). Then athletes will have until Monday evening to complete that workout in the presence of someone judging them. Athletes will then report their score online. This score is placed among the other Raleigh CrossFit athletes, as well as Regionally and Worldwide.
The Open is designed to be accessible to all athletes, and for the past two years has included an option for scaling workouts. THIS IS AWESOME!
What does this mean to you? Why should you do it?
Participating in The Open is unique in sports because CrossFit is the only sport where non-professionals will do the exact same work as the professionals in the same time frame. This means for those five weeks you will be doing the exact same workouts as 2017 CrossFit Games champions Mat Fraser and Tia-Claire Toomey.

This is truly unique. You may be a great basketball player, and hit .750 on your 3-pointers at the YMCA, but you can’t compare yourself to the NBA based on the performance since the quality of the teams differs. In the Open, Mat Fraser will be doing the workouts in a CrossFit affiliate, just like you will, in the presence of a judge… just like you!
Here are the top reasons you should participate in the Open:
1. YOU WILL REGRET IT IF YOU DON’T. THE INTENSITY IS AMAZING. AND BY THAT I MEAN, YOU WILL REALLY SEE YOURSELF PERFORM, TO REALIZE ALL OF YOUR TRAINING HAS COME TO THE TOP. THERE ARE COUNTLESS STORIES OF PARTICIPANTS AT RALEIGH CROSSFIT SETTING PERSONAL BESTS WITH WEIGHTS THEY’VE NEVER LIFTED (A DEADLIFT MAX PERHAPS), MOVEMENTS THEY HAVE NEVER DONE (A TOE-TO-BAR). YOUR GAME WILL BE STRONGER. THE ENVIRONMENT, THE CAMARADERIE… IT ALL HELPS YOU TO RISE UP TO THE CHALLENGES EACH WEEK.
2. IT’S FUN! THERE IS NOTHING QUITE LIKE THE ENERGY IN THE GYM DURING OPEN WORKOUTS. EVERYONE STEPS UP IT UP. EVERYONE CHEERS EACH OTHER ON. THERE IS ALWAYS TALK OF STRATEGIES FOR TACKLING A WORKOUT. EVERYONE IS IMPATIENT TO SEE THE THURSDAY NIGHT ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE NEXT WORKOUT. PLUS, THERE IS ALWAYS FRIENDLY COMPETITION AMONGST FRIENDS.
3. FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS! THIS IS AN EVENT. WE WILL EVEN HAVE OFFICIAL T-SHIRTS, SORT OF LIKE A BADGE OF HONOR FOR DOING THE WORKOUTS EACH WEEK, BUT ALSO BECAUSE WE ARE TEAM AND THIS SERVES AS YOUR TEAM UNIFORM. PRE-ORDER ONE NOW AT THE FRONT DESK.
EACH FRIDAY NIGHT STARTING FEB. 23 FROM 600P UNTIL FINISHED, WE WILL RUN HEATS TO PERFORM THE WORKOUTS. THE ENERGY WILL BE UNLIKE ANYTHING YOU HAVE EXPERIENCED IN A REGULAR CLASS.
4. YOU HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE A PART OF THE WORLDWIDE CROSSFIT COMMUNITY. DURING THE OPEN, CROSSFITTERS FROM EVERY NATION AND CONTINENT ARE ALL PERFORMING THE SAME WORKOUTS. Raleigh CrossFit will use the Open to celebrate our local community, as well as the CrossFit community as a whole, and we will have fun throughout the five weeks.

Note: We want you to do this. We want you to join in on the fun every Friday Night For 5 WEEKS! But if you can’t or you are crazy enough to do this workout twice, we will do a last-chance qualifier on Sunday mornings, starting at 900a, each week. This will give you a chance to make up a missed Friday night (although why would you want to miss and frankly it won’t be as busy or fun) and earn points for your team. Don’t let your team down!
