Jesse began her CrossFit career in 2016 and has been an athlete with Raleigh CrossFit since 2017. Her athletic career expands beyond the barbell however. Her tenacity and toughness were founded by roller derby. She played for eight seasons with Carolina Roller Derby and still coaches and contributes to the sport at various levels.
Roller derby has a reputation for being intense, but don’t let that generality fool you. Jesse is equally as kind and humorous and flip the switch from going toe to toe around the track without fear to holding a cute and cuddly puppy. This is one of the many reasons we are excited to have Jesse on our coaching team.
“I am excited to learn more about how the movements are taught and queues to provide as athletes make needed adjustments,” said Jesse. “I know this opportunity will help me to grow as a coach and as an athlete. The entire process is what excites me the most. Putting the pieces together with warm-ups, various drills and the workouts themselves is really something my brain loves to do. Above all of that, is how important this community has become to me. Taking this step as a coach, warms my heart.”
“Jesse’s presence combines strength, humor, kindness and a gentle hand,” said Owner and Head Coach Chennelle Miller. “She wants to be the best she can be, constantly wanting to learn the ins and outs of how athletes are built, not just personally, but others as well. She genuinely believes that she is successful when others around her are as well. Her leadership in that realm, as well as being able to connect with people on various levels, is very complimentary to our goals at Raleigh CrossFit.”
